I grew up inculcated with the maxim that it is better to be slow but sure.  I guess that maxim originated in an era when technology, especially computer technology, was unheard of.  With the onset of computer technology, life became more fast-paced.

If prototypes were meticulously done by hand a long time ago, it is now meticulously done by rapid prototype modeling technology. The difference?  Rapid prototype modeling technology can do the job in a much shorter time.

So, in the context of computer technology, haste may not necessarily be equivalent to waste. With rapid prototype design technology, you can have a scale model of your design or a prototype of your design right away.  If you can have your prototype through rapid prototype design technology, you can readily test it for functionality and accuracy.
