Cell phone blocker technology is being used as a standard military issued device for travelling in convoys.  Explosive devices are known to be detonated by a cell phone call from a distance.  Insurgents have been planting a device on the roadside and watching for the military convoy to arrive then detonating the device with a cell phone call.  This has proven to be very accurate and dangerously effective. 

Cell phone blocker technology is being bolted onto the vehicles that are travelling in the convoys.  As the convoy travels the cell phone blockers work to jam the frequencies that cell phones use preventing any explosive devices being detonated by insurgents who may be watching.  When they call the cell phone attached to the bomb they get a message saying that the cell phone you are trying to reach is not available.

This has proven to be effective in preventing this kind of roadside bomb attack deterring insurgent efforts to kill allied forces.
