Sony Vaio VGN-FE41S Review

July 19th, 2010 . by admin

The casing of the Sony Vaio VGN-FE41S notebook is made of dark gray shades. On the display flap is a large “Vaio” logo in metallic gray. The screen sits on two rods and a large finger space between the screen and cabinet. Because the screen hangs over the rear edge, there are no connections. All connections are left, right and in front. Top of the screen edge is a “MotionEye webcam integrated. The keyboard of the Sony Vaio is very flat, but it feels good to while typing. There is no separate numeric keypad, but this notebook does have full-Delete, Home, Page Up and Page Down keys. Above the keyboard are few multimedia keys like volume, mute and two freely configurable keys. The touch-sensitive surface of this notebook mouse responds to our taste a bit stiff. The two mouse buttons provide little tactile feedback, are also buttons that are too close to the edge of the keyboard, which is less comfortable. For the back, you can find a VAIO VGP-BPS2 battery with standard capacity fit into the battery slot. The Sony laptop battery can power up the notebook for up to 2.8 hour(s). Of course, Sony also provide the ultra-high capacity version, VGP-BPL2 battery for you to choose.

Furthermore, Sony has a lot of software bundled with this notebook. Including Microsoft Office 30 days trial version, Norton Internet Security, Skype, Adobe PhotoShop Elements 5, MS Works, Click to DVD and InterVideo DVD, SonicStage, Roxio Easy Media Creator, etc. Sony also supplies all its own utilities along, including the notebook automatically update from the Sony website (well the notebook is required to be plugged in for updates can be installed), and recovery system for creating images, diagnostics software, webcam capture software, etc.

Conclusion A look at the score shows that the Vaio VGN-FE41S rather mediocre performance in comparison with five other multimedia notebooks in our test, what we do what is against a “entertainment’ brand like Sony.
