After 1,232 players tried out for the US Open tennis tournament from April 18 through June 26, only 32 spots were available to compete in the 2010 Open Qualifying Tournament, which is being held the week prior to the US Open. Most of those competing for the US Open National Playoffs were fulfilling a dream that they knew was unattainable but wanted a piece of history. This was the first US Open National Playoffs and most of the players just wanted to say they had a shot to play in the US Open.
