Sending My Daughter to School Was Scary

June 30th, 2009 . by admin

I was extremely nervous to send my daughter to kindergarten. She was diagnosed with hydrocephalus while I was still pregnant and we spent the next several years of her life in and out of the hospital. By the time she was a year old, she had been through three brain surgeries and had racked up 150,000 dollars in medical care. It was all so worth it, though, as she is now happy and thriving. The only thing that eased my mind was the medical ID bracelets that our doctor gave us. I knew that all her medical information would be easy available in one spot and that her teacher and school nurses would know what to do if she needed anything. I still worry a bit, but I think that’s something that all parent do.
